Pet Loss

The death of a beloved pet, or the impending loss of a beloved pet, can be just as devastating as losing a significant loved one.

For those whose pet supported them through the death of a loved one, and now the pet has died, it can be even more overwhelming as we are now grieving two losses.

Cornell University College of Veterinarian Medicine has a hotline to speak about your pet loss available Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 6:15pm-9:15pm EST. Call 607-218-7457.

Chicago Veterinary Medical Association veterinarians and staff members are available to assist you. Leave a voice mail message at any time and they will return your call Monday through Friday between 7pm – 9pm Central Time – 630-325-1600

Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Pet Loss Hotline. Staffed by students, call (509) 335-5704

Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice has an excellent support helpline you can call. Hours are Monday through Friday 10am – 9pm Eastern Time.
