The Mary Mac Show | Grieving The World We Once Knew II

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 102, we continue to discuss the uncertainties in our world, and look at how to focus on our physical, mental, financial, spiritual and intellectual health at this time.

In Part I of “Grieving the World We Once Knew” we discussed the uncertainties in our world, inflation, pandemic issues, and how we must reevaluate what is important to us and how to cope when we have little control over our new world.

And now that we have the additional stress, anxiety and possible overwhelm with our society changing at such a rapid pace, it is that much more important that we look at how it is affecting us in addition to the grief we feel for our loved one.

Don’t take this lightly.

It is imperative that you care for yourself and your family during these times.

We unfortunately do not have the luxury of only considering our bereavement. We are now tasked with learning how to fully care for ourselves in many way.

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving the Death of a Child

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 99, we discuss the death of a child, the overwhelming shock it brings to parents, siblings and other family members and we look at ways to cope and rebuild life without them.

One of the most devastating life experiences is the death of a child.

Whether the death was anticipated, as in the case of illness, or sudden, as in the case of accident, homicide or suicide, the loss of your precious child is something no parent expects to endure in their lifetime.

It goes against the natural order of life. A parent is supposed to die before their child or children.

So when a parent is confronted with this overwhelming event, they are shocked and bewildered. They can’t believe this is happening to them.

It wreaks havoc on their family dynamic, their marriage, their worklife, and the relationships they have with friends and extended family.

Not only are they grieving, but their surviving children and the child’s grandparents are also grieving.

They realize they have so much pain inside themselves and all around them.

And it all needs to be addressed.

In this week’s episode, we look at the many aspects of what happens when a family experiences the death of a child and effective coping skills to help them.

Below, please use the Emotional Freedom Technique to help you stabilize your emotions. It has been a great relief for so many during the grieving process.

Bless you my friend.
xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Dealing with Stress

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 93, we look at how stress affects us during the grieving process and techniques that will help us bring calm to our lives.

When we are grieving, many survivors deal with stress as their lives unravel and uncertainty takes hold.

What they knew as their life before, is no longer there for them.

Whether they lost a husband, wife, father, mother, sister, brother, daughter, son or other significant person in their life, life as they once knew it will never be the same.

And so stress starts to creep up and confusion takes over as they try to figure out what needs to be done for the funeral, for their family, for themselves to survive this tragedy.

Whether the person was ill and expected to die, or was taken in an accident, sudden death or violence, their world has changed and it will take a long time to regroup and find a new way to live day by day.

In this episode we speak about how to handle stress as we make our way through the fog and beyond.

There is so much to do. So many decisions.

With help and time, these will be made.

But it is imperative to manage your stress so you can safely move through these times with your health.

Bless you my friend.

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving for an Emotionally or Physically Absent Parent

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 76, we discuss the painful subject of grieving when a parent is emotionally or physically absent. They may still be with us or have died, yet the hurt lingers.

It can be especially painful when a parent is not truly connected to you.

Whether they died in childbirth, gave you up for adoption, was seriously impaired by drugs, alcohol or criminal behavior, you suffered from these circumstances.

And as you grew, you might have been neglected or raised by your Dad after your mother’s death, or your Mom after your father’s death.

You might have been raised by a grandparent or even a great-grandparent who took you in and did the best they could.

You might have been put in the foster care system shuffling back and forth among homes.

Whatever your life handed you to this point, it may not have been ideal and you might still harbor pain from your upbringing.

Feelings of resentment, anger, bitterness, sadness, loneliness and isolation may sit just under the surface and still affect you.

We address many of these hurts in episode 76 and I encourage you to not only listen in, but to look at the links below and begin to learn EFT, get help from a hotline when you need to talk and vent, and watch Marisa Peer’s videos on “I Am Enough” so you can begin the healing process.

Sometimes when we experience the death of a loved one, many other issues surface when we are in the grieving process. This may be one of them.

Bless you, my friend. My warrior!

The Mary Mac Show | The Gift of Simplicity

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 57, we discuss how simplifying our surroundings and the way we live our life can lead to a calmer everyday existence while we are working through our grieving process.

So often when we are grieving a significant individual in our lives, we don’t take the time to consider how we can simplify things so we don’t feel so overwhelmed.

In this episode we look at various ways to decrease our tasks and pressure. It helps us to think through this process and minimize our lifestyle so we release additional pressure that is not needed.

A website that I ran across recently helps us to scream out our frustration and anger. Go to Just Scream! A wonderful service where you call in to this telephone number and literally just scream into the phone and hang up. Very cathartic.
