The Mary Mac Show | Death By Fentanyl Podcast Series | Jaime Puerta 16 yo son Daniel

In Episode 191, I speak with Jaime Puerta, Co-Founder of VOID (Victims of Illicit Drugs), who discusses the death of his son, Daniel to fentanyl poisoning.

He graciously agreed to speak with me about his horrific experience finding his son in his room early on the morning of April 1, 2020. Daniel had taken only one half of what he thought was an oxycodone pill but instead it was laced with fentanyl.

On April 5th, Daniel was taken off life support.

Jaime Puerta with son, Daniel

Since that time, in addition to his grieving process, Jaime co-founded an advocacy group to help other families learn about the dangers of obtaining drugs online through SnapChat, a social media platform which erases correspondence very quickly.

Young people are buying drugs from dealers who claim to be giving them the drug they ask for, but instead, are selling them a deadly pill.

We also speak about Jaime’s advocacy work and the documentary by Dominic Tierno and Christine Wood entitled “Dead On Arrival” exposing the illegal drug trafficking of fentanyl from Mexico and four parents who tell their painful stories of how this claimed their children’s lives and the affects on their families.

The Mary Mac Show | Enough Fentanyl to KILL EVERY AMERICAN!

#fentanyl #death #onepillcankill

In Episode 190, I speak about the dangers of illegal fentanyl which can take a loved one’s life with one dose.

The days of experimenting with drugs are over. People who are addicted think they are getting their regular supply but even they don’t know how lethal one dose of cocaine, heroin, meth or other drug can be now.

And young people who are looking for a quick high, perhaps something to deal with their emotional pain, have no idea that this drug is laced in pills, even sometimes an illegal fentanyl pill that is 100% fentanyl.

It takes so little to kill you and your family members. And young people are vulnerable.

They just don’t know what they are getting involved with.

They may be out with friends at a party and someone offers them a laced pill or joint or line of coke.

And the effects are deadly.

There is no recovering from this unless someone has narcan available.

It only takes this minute amount of illegal fentanyl to kill you. Just look at that. Only that little amount!

So I encourage everyone to become aware of this epidemic killing our children and grandchildren.

Learn how to teach your children, grandchildren and other loved ones before it’s too late.

I realize it’s hard to have these conversations because you’re uncomfortable. And you think it might lead to them using the drugs.

But please understand the if you forgo having these conversations from kindergarten, you run the risk of their looking for relief from dealers on social media, or agree to take it from a friend.

Rainbow Fentanyl that looks like candy attract our youngest.

Be aware! Be educated. Your young ones’ lives are on the line.

There are too many families who are now grieving the loss of their children. Help yourself to not be one of them.

Wishing you much strength! And don’t wait. Have those conversations now!

xoxo

Introducing The Mary Mac Show Journal Collection

When we grieve the death of a loved one, often we harbor our pain inside and this can do harm to ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The job of these journals is to lift those feelings from us to these pages to release all you are dealing with and increase your peace.

In The Mary Mac Show Journal Collection, we offer 4 unique journals for those dealing with grief, loss, death, dying and bereavement.

Our first, ‘my journal’, helps you record your feelings after any type of loss or anticipated loss.

Our second is ‘my grief journal’ which helps you record your journey after the death of a significant person in your life.

The third is ‘my gratitude journal’ which encourages you, as I do in my podcast The Mary Mac Show, to write five things each evening which you are grateful for as well as to help you develop your positive vision for your life.

And our fourth is ‘my remembrance journal’ which gives you a place to add dreams, daydreams, thoughts, prayers, photos, etc. of your special loved one who is no longer with you.

Each group of four journals will have the same cover so you can order a complete set.

But other covers are also available and you might wish to mix and match. And they are wonderful gifts and presents for those struggling with their grief and loss.

The best way to see all my journals is to go to my amazon author page where they will be available to see – www.amazon.com/author/marymac

And remember to take advantage of my podcast – The Mary Mac Show Grieving After a Loved One’s Death – to help you.

The Mary Mac Show | Death of a Grandparent

Grandma having a conversation with Daisy on the terrace

In Episode 172, we discuss the love of a grandparent and how their devotion to us is rare and sacred. And if they raised you because your parents couldn’t, they are our heroes.

If you had the good fortune to be surrounded and loved by grandparents in your lifetime, however brief or long, you will know how special that bond or relationship was.

Sometimes they would be geographically nearby, sometimes they had time to devote to you, maybe even take you to their homes for the weekends or longer.

Sometimes you’d only get to appreciate them during holidays and vacations.

And if you were lucky they’d think you were the best thing ever and shower you with love and affection.

The relationship was a bond that you had with no other.

And if your grandparent or grandparents took you in when your own parents were unable to provide for you, you were additionally blessed when they raised you as their own.

When a grandparent/s decides that you are more valuable to them than retiring or spending their latter year resting and having that time for themselves, you know that you are extremely special. Doing that when your parents couldn’t or wouldn’t, was a selfless act on their part.

They became your heroes.

In this episode, I indulge in sharing my experiences with my three grandparents and to this day, I miss them all. This past week on March 14th was the anniversary of my grandma’s death – 28 years ago.

We had a special bond, completely different than my parents and in some ways far superior.

Leave a comment below to share what your grandparents meant to you and your grieving process after their death.

Blessings to You.

xoxo

Additional Notes – Some things that will help along this journey to ease the pain:

If you are having an especially difficult time emotionally, I recommend you speak with a specialist at a hotline near you. Here you will find hotlines all around the world. Trained counselors are there to listen, free of charge, to what’s going on with you. Take advantage of their great kindness. Vent with an objective individual. You don’t have to be ‘suicidal’ to call them, but if you are, that’s the best place to call. Don’t hestitate!

For parents and teens, there is an amazing resource where you can email or text counselors for help at The Boys Town National Hotline! Outstanding assistance for your children and you. You can also dial 988 for assistance.

Visit Julie’s EFT episodes on grief and she will teach you the Emotional Freedom Technique. Her videos calm your spirit and help you release emotional and physical pain as you move forward.

Here are some meditation music to help you rest.

You can order your Bach’s Rescue Remedy from most health food stores, either in person or online. Remember, these do have alcohol in them.

I use the Rescue Remedy 20ml drops but they have spray and other versions which might work better for you. And…they also have products to calm pets, too.

*To find a homeopathic doctor, visit here or here. Many offer phone consultations if you cannot find one in your area. They work with patients around the globe. You can also research in your area of the world.
