The Mary Mac Show | Pet Loss II

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 86, we continue to speak about Pet Loss and the many situations you encounter after your beloved pet’s death.

Whether this might be the first time you have experienced a pet’s death or not, that lovable furbaby was a huge part of your life and helped you get through many difficult times.

They may have been there through the death of a significant person and you snuggled with them, cried in their coat, loved when them came to console you.

They were much more than just an animal; they were your constant companion through very sorrowful times.

If you find yourself struggling with whom to speak with about your pain, don’t trust yourself to reach out to someone who won’t be supportive of your grief. Many people can’t understand the extent of your grief for a pet; after all it’s just a cat, just a dog to them.

Rather, reach out to those who will understand your pain.

I’ve created a specific Pet Loss page on my website where you can find the best people who will honor your grief. Some organizations, like Veterinarian Medical Schools, have hotlines staffed by those studying to become Veterinarians.

You can also go to my Crisis Resource tab on this website, where you can call hotlines staffed by ready and waiting trained counselors all over the world, who are willing to listen to all your pain, after a pet’s or your favorite person’s death. USE THEM!!

There is no need to stuff your pain inside and isolate yourself when you can speak with someone who understands it.

Additional Notes:

Here are some meditation music to help you rest.

You can order your Bach’s Rescue Remedy by clicking on the link below and then tab at the top of their page for Rescue Remedy Products. Remember, these do have alcohol in them.

I use the Rescue Remedy 20ml drops but they have spray and other versions which might work better for you. And…they also have products to calm pets, too.

*To find a homeopathic doctor, visit here or here. Many offer phone consultations if you cannot find one in your area. They work with patients around the globe. You can also research in your area of the world.

The Mary Mac Show | Pet Loss I

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

Many of us are fortunate to have beloved pets that brighten our days and calm us when we are in pain.

This week in Episode 85, we discuss how we grieve after a pet’s death.

Whether this is our first pet’s death or not, or the amazing pet which was by our side through the painful death of a significant person in our life, losing a pet can be as difficult as losing another person.

And many people in our world simply don’t put as much emphasis on this loss and they do when a person dies.

But for animal lovers, our furbabies have taken us through many painful experiences and their death is overwhelming for us.

And we might struggle with who to talk to about this for fear they won’t understand.

Take the time to comfort yourselves. You need this.

The Mary Mac Show | Father’s Day

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 81, we remember our father and father figures who made an impact on our lives. We also discuss the pain of bereaved fathers, and father’s whose wives are struggling to bear children and fear they will never be called “Dad.”

The pain from a father’s death is often severe especially if we had a wonderful relationship with our Dads.

But, sometimes, our relationship wasn’t as we would expect and we struggle with the ‘what if’s’ and perhaps guilt that may bring.

Yet whatever the relationship, good or bad, that we had with him, we must forgive ourselves and even moreso him for what you needed that you didn’t get, for what you and he said to each other that stung, and all the unfinished business that might still linger that neither of you can do anything about anymore.

We also recognize all the father figures who raised you and cared for you if your Dad died younger than expected.

And we also talk about bereaved fathers who have buried their child, children or even all their children.

Lastly, we look at men who struggle to have children with their wives, those who experience a miscarriage or stillborn child, as well as those who deal with infertility and/or the knowledge that they may never have children of their own. We also remember men who are older now and wished they had children years ago when it was more practical, or those who never found the right women to raise a family.

This can be a very melancholy day for some. Let us acknowledge them all.

The Mary Mac Show | Mother’s Day

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 75, we remember our mothers and mother figures who made an impact on our lives. We also discuss the pain of bereaved mothers, ladies who struggle to bear the title and those who will never be called “Mom.”

The pain from a mother’s death is often severe especially if we had a wonderful relationship with our Moms.

But, sometimes, our relationship wasn’t as we would expect and we struggle with the ‘what if’s’ and perhaps guilt that may bring.

Yet whatever the relationship, good or bad, that we had with her, we must forgive ourselves and even moreso her for what you needed that you didn’t get, for what you and she said to each other that stung, and all the unfinished business that might still linger that neither of you can do anything about anymore.

We also recognize all the mother figures who raised you and cared for you if your Mom died younger than expected.

And we also talk about bereaved mothers who have buried their child, children or even all their children.

Lastly, we look at women who struggle to have children, those who miscarried or had a stillborn child, as well as those who deal with infertility and/or the knowledge that they may never have children of their own. We also remember women who are older now and wished they had children years ago when it was still possible, or those who never found the right husband to raise a family.

This can be a very melancholy day for some. Let us acknowledge them all.

Featured in American Bazaar to Reach India amid Covid Resurgence

In the spring and summer of 2020 here in the USA, we were going through an unprecedented lockdown which brought fear of the unknown to us.

At that time India had not yet heard of The Mary Mac Show.

But now, since my listeners in India have become my #2 audience in the world, only behind the USA, I wanted to reach out to the English speaking media in India to let them know that I had prepared many episodes on the coronavirus and how we are dealing with our grief when a loved one is dying or has died from this dreaded and sudden illness.

So I emailed 52 individual editors of newspapers in India and only one amazing lady saw the value of my work.

Hats off to Ms. Zofeen Maqsood of American Bazaar Online who understood how important it is to help the Indian people through their grief.

Thank you Zofeen for your kindness.
