The Mary Mac Show | Our Most Vulnerable II

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 55, we continue to discuss how best to help our most vulnerable in our lives, our young adults, parents, grandparents and the lonely and alone during the holiday season.

In part I, we concentrated on our children and teens.

Here in part II, we look at the challenges that our young adults encounter, especially those who are now away at college or in another city for a new career.

We also concentrate on the struggles of our parents, grandparents and those in our lives who are alone and lonely.

Holidays can bring about much sadness when there is no one around us and we are grieving a loved one’s death.

Please be kind to others and connect with them either online, by phone or in person at some point so they feel included in your celebrations.

Additional Notes – Some things that will help along this journey to ease the pain:

If you are having an especially difficult time emotionally, I recommend you speak with a specialist at a hotline near you. Here you will find hotlines all around the world. Trained counselors are there to listen, free of charge, to what’s going on with you. Take advantage of their great kindness. Vent with an objective individual. You don’t have to be ‘suicidal’ to call them, but if you are, that’s the best place to call. Don’t hestitate!

For parents and teens, there is an amazing resource where you can email or text counselors for help at The Boys Town National Hotline! Outstanding assistance for your children and you.

Visit Brad Yates’ youtube channel will teach you the Emotional Freedom Technique. His videos calm your spirit and help you release emotional and physical pain as you move forward.

Here are some meditation music to help you rest.

You can order your Bach’s Rescue Remedy from most health food stores, either in person or online. Remember, these do have alcohol in them.

I use the Rescue Remedy 20ml drops but they have spray and other versions which might work better for you. And…they also have products to calm pets, too.

*To find a homeopathic doctor, visit here or here. Many offer phone consultations if you cannot find one in your area. They work with patients around the globe. You can also research in your area of the world.

The Mary Mac Show | Our Most Vulnerable I

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 54, we begin to discuss how to help our most vulnerable in our lives. In part I, we concentrate on our children and teens. Next week in Episode 55, we will focus on our young adults, our older members of our family and those in our circle of influence who are lonely and alone, who may also be grieving for your special someone.

Our young people don’t necessarily have the language skills to convey their deep pain over losing someone so close to them and we need to express that for them.

Whether they are very young, 6-12 or our teens, all our vulnerable children need our tender loving care.

They need our attention, time and focus even though we ourselves are suffering.

But if they don’t get your guidance, they will start to search for it in the wrong places and this is not something you want to happen.

Listen in to learn how to comfort and care for your young people at this season.

The Mary Mac Show | Preparing Yourself For The Holiday Season

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In this week’s episode, we discuss how to prepare yourself as we encounter the year-end holidays.

No matter which ones you celebrate, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, or many others after a loved one has died, they just don’t feel the same.

If it’s the first holiday season since you have been bereaved, or it’s a few more, trying to feel happy and enjoying the seasons as you did in the past, can be an especially difficult task.

The main thing you need to know is that you don’t have to do all you’ve done in the past.

You can decide on a different path. You can curtail your events and celebrations this year and there is nothing wrong with that.

Your emotional state is different now and you must be sensitive to that and treat yourself with more care.

So listen in to Episode 50 and please be kind to yourself as we move into this season.

And remember to pick up my ebook Holiday Grief: How To Cope With Stress, Anxiety and Depression After a Loved One’s Death right here on my site on the left hand margin.
