The Mary Mac Show | Grieving The World We Once Knew

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 100, we discuss the uncertainties in our world, inflation, pandemic issues, and how we must reevaluate what is important to us and how to cope when we have little control over our new world.

If you are grieving a loved one’s death, then grieving the world we once knew will be a double blow.

And if you are grieving the life you once knew, this may be unfamiliar territory for you. It might be the first time you’ve dealt with changes beyond your control.

It is definitely sad to think that our world has changed so much since the inception of the coronavirus in early 2020.

It led us to lockdowns all across the world. It stopped us from traveling across the globe for business or pleasure.

It prohibited us from doing pretty much everything, even visiting with friends or family.

We found ourselves isolated and fearful to live life.

We saw many people die of the virus, some whom were our own kin.

And now, one and a half years later, governments, politicians and the media want to control you with mandatory vaccines, the ability to attending events like concerts, enjoy restaurants in certain cities, even prohibit you from some airlines and employment.

This new world that is being shaped by people who want to control you is not the world we once knew and in today’s podcast, it was time to address how it affects us as we grieve.

The build up of losses, beyond those we experience when we have a death in the family or among our friends, adds so much trauma to our lives.

Dealing with a death is one thing, but add all this suppression and we experience overwhelm, additional anxiety, and stress.

How do we handle inflationary prices when our wages are not increasing?

How do we remain calm when we are fighting for a job that mandates a vaccine we do not want to take?

Please take time to share your experiences and comments below so others can learn from you. The Mary Mac Show is also available on YouTube and you can leave comments there as well.

Stay Strong and Bless you my friend.
xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving the Death of a Child

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 99, we discuss the death of a child, the overwhelming shock it brings to parents, siblings and other family members and we look at ways to cope and rebuild life without them.

One of the most devastating life experiences is the death of a child.

Whether the death was anticipated, as in the case of illness, or sudden, as in the case of accident, homicide or suicide, the loss of your precious child is something no parent expects to endure in their lifetime.

It goes against the natural order of life. A parent is supposed to die before their child or children.

So when a parent is confronted with this overwhelming event, they are shocked and bewildered. They can’t believe this is happening to them.

It wreaks havoc on their family dynamic, their marriage, their worklife, and the relationships they have with friends and extended family.

Not only are they grieving, but their surviving children and the child’s grandparents are also grieving.

They realize they have so much pain inside themselves and all around them.

And it all needs to be addressed.

In this week’s episode, we look at the many aspects of what happens when a family experiences the death of a child and effective coping skills to help them.

Below, please use the Emotional Freedom Technique to help you stabilize your emotions. It has been a great relief for so many during the grieving process.

Bless you my friend.

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving an Infant Death

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 98, we discuss the death of a baby through Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) or Infant Death where a child dies a few months or years into their life and how their parents and family deal with the unanticipated devastation of their loss.

Losing a baby to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, known as SIDS or Crib Death, is a shocking loss as the child can be perfectly healthy, lays down for a nap or at bedtime and when the parent goes to awaken them, they have died.

No one expects that this will ever happen to a child under the age of one and it leaves parents wondering what could have happened, what they could have done differently, if any of this was their fault.

And the answer is that none of this was their fault and, often, even medical professionals cannot explain crib death.

A child can be perfectly healthy, but still succumb to crib death.

Another Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) is when a baby is accidentally smothered during the night when a parent leaves the child with them in the parent’s bed and they don’t realize that they rolled on top of the child suffocating it.

Or when a child is strangled by loose bedding or pillows wherever they have been laid down to sleep and cannot move those items by themselves to breathe.

Or when they fall through the railings of the bed and strangle themselves.

And there are also so many other ways infants die – car crashes, homicide, shaken baby syndrome, illnesses like cancer, etc.

Experiencing an infant death is devastating. It leaves the parents numb and wondering exactly how did this happen and often blame themselves.

In Episode 98, we talk about how to help yourself if you are grieving an infant death and how to deal with the reactions that family and friends might have which can also leave you bewildered.

Bless you my friend.
xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving a Miscarriage, Ectopic Pregnancy or Stillbirth

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 97, we discuss the death of a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or stillbirth and the pain, confusion and grief couples experience during these times.

When a couple first learns that they are expecting a baby, everyone is so excited.

It’s something they longed for and celebrate together and with family and friends.

But if they lose that baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or stillbirth, it shatters their world.

No one ever expects that something like this will happen.

Most people believe getting and keeping the pregnancy to full term is expected.

It’s easy.

Most women just go through pregnancy and they come home with a perfectly healthy baby girl or boy.

But the truth is many women will experience a miscarriage. Some even suffer through more than one.

It might be just a few months since they learned they were pregnant or it can be further along in the pregnancy.

And, even more devastating, is the stillbirth of a baby who is nearly or full term.

In this podcast episode, we discuss the grieving process of parents who are dealing with such sorrow.

Bless you my friend.

The Mary Mac Show | Dealing with Guilt and Regret

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 96, we discuss the guilt and regret we might feel after a loved one’s death and learn how to help comfort and soothe ourselves.

Depending on the relationship you had with the person who died, there might be some guilt and regret you feel that needs to be worked through.

You might have felt you had more time to talk to them perhaps about a conflict in the past.

You might regret that something you disagreed upon would work itself out.

But now they are gone, and you won’t be getting that chance.

And you wonder what you can do to soothe this wound you now deal with.

In this episode, I speak about various ways to help yourself through the guilt and regret.

Take the time to use the links to EFT in the show notes below.

And, especially, be kind to yourself.

Bless you my friend.
