The Mary Mac Show Death of a Mother

In Episode 187, I speak with Janae Watterson of Enumclaw, Washington who shares her mother’s death in a car accident when she was 17 and a passenger in the car. She talks about how it affected her intensely for decades and what she did on her road to recovery.

Janae graciously discussed in depth her relationship with her mother, the day she died, and how Janae threw herself into sports, her career and goals she set for herself.

It was when she became ill more often than usual, that she felt something was not right and reached out for a therapist, who made all the difference for her.

Watch my conversation with Janae below:

We also spoke about her relationship with her father and three sisters as well as with her husband, Ryan, who was her boyfriend at the time of her mother’s death and knew how devastating her grief was for her and his overwhelming support along this journey.

Below are some photos of Janae and her mother and Janae’s mother, which graces her office in Salon Kathleen.

Introducing The Mary Mac Show Journal Collection

When we grieve the death of a loved one, often we harbor our pain inside and this can do harm to ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The job of these journals is to lift those feelings from us to these pages to release all you are dealing with and increase your peace.

In The Mary Mac Show Journal Collection, we offer 4 unique journals for those dealing with grief, loss, death, dying and bereavement.

Our first, ‘my journal’, helps you record your feelings after any type of loss or anticipated loss.

Our second is ‘my grief journal’ which helps you record your journey after the death of a significant person in your life.

The third is ‘my gratitude journal’ which encourages you, as I do in my podcast The Mary Mac Show, to write five things each evening which you are grateful for as well as to help you develop your positive vision for your life.

And our fourth is ‘my remembrance journal’ which gives you a place to add dreams, daydreams, thoughts, prayers, photos, etc. of your special loved one who is no longer with you.

Each group of four journals will have the same cover so you can order a complete set.

But other covers are also available and you might wish to mix and match. And they are wonderful gifts and presents for those struggling with their grief and loss.

The best way to see all my journals is to go to my amazon author page where they will be available to see – www.amazon.com/author/marymac

And remember to take advantage of my podcast – The Mary Mac Show Grieving After a Loved One’s Death – to help you.

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving Children Podcast Series | Death of a Father | Dory Part II

In Episode 183, I continued my discussion with Dory Fier of Indianapolis, IN, a pediatric social worker, who shares with us the terminal diagnosis her father received and his nine-month battle with glioblastoma, an inoperable brain tumor.

Dory with her Dad at her wedding

In this second of two episodes, Dory and I delve deeply into how she dealt with the aftermath of his death and the physical symptoms that appeared for her.

We discuss how she wished she had taken advantage of the support system that wanted to help her and was grateful for those who did offer her assistance.

We also spoke about the difference between grieving an anticipatory death vs. a sudden death and her thoughts on that.

I am so thankful for the time Dory and I were able to spend together and believe her courage to share this experience will benefit and bless you whether you are going through this struggle now or may in the future.

Much Love to Dory and her family!
