The Mary Mac Show | Grieving Children Podcast Series | Death of a Father | Misti Graham

In Episode 185, I speak with Misti Graham of Nashville, Tennessee, who shares with us her father’s stroke when she was 16 and his death of a massive heart attack when she was 19.

Misti graciously agreed to speak with me about her personal journey through the grieving process, the overwhelming stress and anxiety that came from being caretaker to her mother after her Dad’s death, and her courageous walk to health again after being diagnosed with PTSD.

Watch my conversation with Misti below:

We also spoke about how her mother was never the same after her husband’s death and relied on Misti heavily through her initial grieving process and even later in life.

Misti and I discussed the burden she felt and how it led to anxiety and stress for her.

And she shares some wonderful wisdom at the end for our audience.

Thank you Misti for joining me!

Additional Notes – Some things that will help along this journey to ease the pain:

If you are having an especially difficult time emotionally, I recommend you speak with a specialist at a hotline near you. Here you will find hotlines all around the world. Trained counselors are there to listen, free of charge, to what’s going on with you. Take advantage of their great kindness. Vent with an objective individual. You don’t have to be ‘suicidal’ to call them, but if you are, that’s the best place to call. Don’t hestitate!

For parents and teens, there is an amazing resource where you can email or text counselors for help at The Boys Town National Hotline! Outstanding assistance for your children and you. You can also dial 988 for assistance.

Visit Julie’s EFT episodes on grief and she will teach you the Emotional Freedom Technique. Her videos calm your spirit and help you release emotional and physical pain as you move forward.

Here are some meditation music to help you rest.

You can order your Bach’s Rescue Remedy from most health food stores, either in person or online. Remember, these do have alcohol in them.

I use the Rescue Remedy 20ml drops but they have spray and other versions which might work better for you. And…they also have products to calm pets, too.

*To find a homeopathic doctor, visit here or here. Many offer phone consultations if you cannot find one in your area. They work with patients around the globe. You can also research in your area of the world.

The Mary Mac Show | When You Couldn’t Say Goodbye

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

This week, on my podcast, we discuss what we go through when we couldn’t say goodbye to someone we loved.

Whether it’s Covid and we weren’t allowed in a hospital or healthcare setting, or earthquakes, avalanches, tornadoes, floods, fires, hurricanes, tsunami, cyclones, explosions, car or plane crashes, all these prevent us to say goodbye if we were not present at these scenes.

There were also sudden death like heart attacks, strokes, homicide, suicide, even terrorism.

And we must remember all the military deaths, especially their bodies were so mutilated or affected by an explosion and there were only small parts or nothing to bury. Many of our men and women, who sacrificed their life for your freedom, never came home at all.

Join me in listening in to Episode 39 to take a look at how to deal with our grief when we couldn’t be with them when they died.
