The Mary Mac Show | Difficult Discussions

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In this week’s episode, we speak about the Difficult Discussions that families need to have, but fail to have, surrounding end-of-life care, death and burial.

I realize this is not something that many families consciously do long before it is needed, but it is a topic that we are all more aware of this year, with the pandemic, than ever before.

Since there is a good chance that this is the first time since spring that you will be with your family to celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas and other year-end holidays this year, I am encouraging you to please use that time specifically as an opportunity to discuss these topics and start to think about what your older relatives may want for themselves when they die or become ill.

It might be your grandparents, parents, even you and your spouse.

Listen in to Episode 52 as we discuss how important it is to gather as a family this season to talk about end-of-life preferences and the best ways to carry them out.

Bless you.

The Mary Mac Show | Preparing Yourself For The Holiday Season

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In this week’s episode, we discuss how to prepare yourself as we encounter the year-end holidays.

No matter which ones you celebrate, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, or many others after a loved one has died, they just don’t feel the same.

If it’s the first holiday season since you have been bereaved, or it’s a few more, trying to feel happy and enjoying the seasons as you did in the past, can be an especially difficult task.

The main thing you need to know is that you don’t have to do all you’ve done in the past.

You can decide on a different path. You can curtail your events and celebrations this year and there is nothing wrong with that.

Your emotional state is different now and you must be sensitive to that and treat yourself with more care.

So listen in to Episode 50 and please be kind to yourself as we move into this season.

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving For A Nation

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In this week’s episode, I speak briefly about the grief we feel after the death of an individual and how that correlates to the grief we feel as a nation in light of all that is going on in the United States and around the world right now.

I grieve for my nation and I wanted to share my thoughts on this very important topic a few days before our election day.

People around the world know oppression and the inability to speak their mind. And, we too, are now having our free speech rights curtailed by those who wish to take our freedoms away.

Even one of our best known podcasters, Joe Rogan, has been censored for a topic he covered on his show by offended employees of the very company who just purchased his podcast.

I know people around the world who have lived in Socialist and Communist countries have experienced this grief – suppression of speech, personal freedoms and seen much violence leading to the death of family and friends.

Here, we are grieving for our nation as we are unaccustomed to having our liberties, property or lifestyle affected by those who don’t love our nation.

So if you’ve felt oppressed in your part of the world, you are welcomed to share your experiences and comments below.

With Love,

Mary Mac

The Mary Mac Show | Social Challenges II

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In this week’s episode, we continue to discuss how to help ourselves when we are struggling to face the world and slowly build a new life for ourselves.

We fight to get out more, accept invitations, start to socialize again with family, friends or even meeting new people.

It is much easier to simply curl up on the sofa with a blanket, beverage and hide from the world. And it’s fine to do this for a time.

But long term, this won’t help us.

It’s time to allow ourselves to get out now, build our confidence and be brave…a little bit at a time.

So be kind to yourself and listen in to Episode 47 to learn various ways you can help yourself.
