The Mary Mac Show | Intellectual Challenges

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 73, we discuss the various intellectual challenges we go through after the death of a loved one and ways to help ourselves cope through these challenges.

When we have a significant loss, we find ourselves in what one would consider a ‘fog’ or ‘bubble’ at the beginning of our grief.

It is during that time when we feel enveloped in a sort of safety net where we are protected.

We do many things on autopilot and at times are unsure how we did all we did.

Sometimes we are going through the motions, like driving our car to work and can’t remember how we got there. It all seems so unreal.

And when the bubble or fog is slowly lifting we might feel even worse because we can’t convince ourselves any longer that this was all a nightmare.

It is then we realize this is very real.

Listen in to Episode 73 to learn more.

xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Remembering HRH The Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 72, we share the life of HRH the Prince Philip, his devotion to HRH The Queen Elizabeth II, who was married for 73 years and died on April 9, 2021 at age 99, two months shy of his 100th birthday. We also discuss widowhood and its affect on the Queen as she approaches her 95th Birthday only a few days after her husband’s funeral and burial.

Prince Philip was the longest consult to any monarch with 68 years of service to her majesty Queen Elizabeth II. During that time he renounced military service which he loved to be by her side as she carried out her duties as United Kingdom’s monarch.

Here are some lovely photos of their great love:

There are many wonderful documentaries and videos on the life of Prince Philip here. I believe you will enjoy them.

Our sincere condolences to Her Majesty HRH Queen Elizabeth II, her four children, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

And we acknowledge the millions of people in the United Kingdom and around the world whose lives he touched.

The Mary Mac Show | Dealing With Work When A Loved One Dies

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 71, we discuss how to alert your employer and colleagues of the death of a loved one and what to expect when you return to work.

Before we’ve had a significant loss, we usually don’t give it too much thought as to how we would handle such a tragedy with the people at work.

We go about our business and do our job as well as we can.

But when we experience someone’s death who is very dear to us, the situation at work can be somewhat strained and the way we deal with our boss and colleagues may become different than before.

In this episode, I delve deeply into this sensitive area of life.

Notification to your boss can be stressful so I speak frankly about how to handle this and how you may be treated when you return to work after the funeral and burial.

If this is the first time you’ve experienced the death of a loved one, you will want to listen in for tips on how to deal with your boss during this time.

The Mary Mac Show | Giving Back

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 70, we look at Easter and Passover and how helping others, even though we ourselves are grieving, will uplift us while bringing joy to others.

After we’ve experienced a loved one’s death, we can be in despair, lonely and isolated, grief stricken beyond what we ever thought.

There are days when we hardly function and it takes all our efforts to move forward.

I get that! I do.

But this week, I’d like you to consider doing something nice for someone else.

Now I know you’re probably thinking “Mary, there is no way I can do that!”

But I’m asking this of you because you need to get out of your head. Out of thinking only about your loss.

When we take a little time to concentrate on the pain and isolation of someone else, we take the focus off ourselves.

And as crazy as that may sound, it will help you.

So listen in to Episode 70 and take the suggestions I give.

And please take a moment to rate and review my podcast at our new site – www.TheMaryMacShow.com.

Have a joyous Easter and wonderful Passover!

xoxo
