The Mary Mac Show | Decisions That Should Wait

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 69, we look at major and minor decisions that should not be made immediately after a loved one’s death.

After we’ve experienced a loved one’s death, there are several things that we need to give further consideration to before we make those decisions.

Decisions such as whether to sell your home, whether to move, whether to consider a new job and so much more.

In this episode, we explore the emotional and practical sides of these decisions which need great care. The ramifications of making these decisions can affect not only you, but those who are also affected by their loved one’s death, and whose lives can be turned upside down because of how you handle things.

Take the time you need and listen in to Episode 69 for guidance.

Bless you, my friend. My warrior!

xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Dealing with Guilt after a Sudden Death

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 68, we discuss the guilt we may feel when someone we love has died suddenly and how we can help ourselves release this pain.

Sudden death leaves us in shock and despair.

We never thought they would die when we least expected it or in the manner they did.

It may have been an medical event, like a heart attack, stroke, aneurysm.

It may have been an accident, like a car accident, dying in a plane crash, falling from the roof, hit by a car or other such dramatic loss.

It may have been horrific as in the case of murder or suicide.

Or it may have been a military, law enforcement, firefighter, EMT or other first responder death.

However your loved one died, a sudden death leaves us overwhelmed and unable to believe when, where and how they died.

In this episode, we talk about the ways we can help ourselves after someone we love has died suddenly.

Bless you, my friend. My warrior!

The Mary Mac Show | Living While Grieving

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 67, we explore how we isolate ourselves for much longer than is healthy and look at ways to allow ourselves to flourish again after a loved one’s death.

When we are in the depth of despair, it is very easy to become stuck.

We don’t want to go anywhere, do anything.

Instead just staying home and turning down invitations, events and gatherings with family and friends becomes commonplace.

We can get to a place where we aren’t even invited any longer.

But living in this state is not healthy. We aren’t meant to be alone which only exacerbates our situation.

Listen in to this episode and learn how to lift yourself out of this sad place.

It doesn’t mean you don’t love them.

It doesn’t mean you won’t always be close to them.

It means that you might just be ready to start reliving your life, bit by bit.

And you are entitled to.

You can live while grieving.

You can laugh, feel joy, go out with family and friends.

Explore the world again.

Decide this will be the day to reinvigorate yourself and try something new.

Bless you, my friend, my warrior!

xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Grieving the Death of a Friend

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 66, we discuss the unique emotions and challenges we experience when we grieve for a friend who has died.

Unlike family, we choose our friends. And there are times when we feel much closer to our friends and have more deep and meaningful relationships with them than with family members.

So when they die, either through illness, accident, anticipatory or sudden, we are shocked that this could happen.

Whether the friend is a classmate, a teammate or a neighbor friend when we are young, or someone we met through work, or a hobby that we both loved, we grow that friendship into something wonderful.

Unlike a family member, when our friend dies others might feel and let us know that this relationship should not be mourned as you would for a relative.

But this is not so.

We might have a relative we barely saw or knew and we would not grieve to the same extent we grieve for a friend we have known nearly all our lives.

Listen in to Episode 66 for more on this very important discussion.

Bless you, my friend, my warrior!
