The Mary Mac Show | Creating a New Family

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 171, we discuss how your personal family may not be there for you along your grief journey but others step up to help and love you.

There comes a time in every bereaved person’s life when they start to wonder exactly where are the people who claimed they would be there for you along this difficult journey.

You sit at night, possibly all alone, after a long day and wish that the people who claimed they’d visit and take you out and help you when you needed it…well, where are they?

It’s additionally painful when you realize they aren’t coming to help, to console, to comfort, to be there for you at the most horrific parts of this journey.

Some are even wondering “Aren’t you over this by now?”

And that can be a very painful realization.

Life is definitely different when it become obvious that your family might not be as supportive as you once thought and it’s actually other individuals – neighbors, business colleagues, and others who step up to the plate for you.

In this episode we speak about how to handle releasing the ‘talkers’ from the ‘doers’ and how this exercise is perfectly acceptable deep into your grieving process.

Blessings to You.

Let me know how it’s going by leaving a comment below about how you dealt with this.

Additional Notes – Some things that will help along this journey to ease the pain:

If you are having an especially difficult time emotionally, I recommend you speak with a specialist at a hotline near you. Here you will find hotlines all around the world. Trained counselors are there to listen, free of charge, to what’s going on with you. Take advantage of their great kindness. Vent with an objective individual. You don’t have to be ‘suicidal’ to call them, but if you are, that’s the best place to call. Don’t hestitate!

For parents and teens, there is an amazing resource where you can email or text counselors for help at The Boys Town National Hotline! Outstanding assistance for your children and you. You can also dial 988 for assistance.

Visit Julie’s EFT episodes on grief and she will teach you the Emotional Freedom Technique. Her videos calm your spirit and help you release emotional and physical pain as you move forward.

Here are some meditation music to help you rest.

You can order your Bach’s Rescue Remedy from most health food stores, either in person or online. Remember, these do have alcohol in them.

I use the Rescue Remedy 20ml drops but they have spray and other versions which might work better for you. And…they also have products to calm pets, too.

*To find a homeopathic doctor, visit here or here. Many offer phone consultations if you cannot find one in your area. They work with patients around the globe. You can also research in your area of the world.

The Mary Mac Show | The Power of Laughter

In Episode 170, we look at the power of laughter and how it can help us heal emotionally and physically after a loved one’s death.

Most of us who are in such pain don’t even want to contemplate seeing or hearing anything funny.

We find ourselves in such despair and just the thought of watching a funny movie isn’t on our radar.

But at some point, unexpectedly, we will be in a situation where something makes us laugh.

And we catch ourselves.

We can’t believe we are laughing.

We stop and wonder if we even have a right to feel happiness again.

How can we possibly feel this way when our loved one is dead.

But our bodies are telling us it’s okay.

Even though it can be confusing.

In this episode, I speak about the need for us to allow the laughter in; even invite it in.

Whether it’s with books, movies, videos or other ways you can appreciate laughter, you need to do this.

Don’t feel guilty about it – just enjoy it.

You are entitled to feel all the happy feelings too!

One of my happier movie is Arthur, with Dudley Moore and a great youtube channel is Jeff Dunham, a comedian.

Everyone enjoys their own kind of comedy…go find yours.

The Mary Mac Show | Our Uncertain Future II

In Episode 169, we continue to discuss life’s uncertainties, inflation, home and food prices, unstable governments, and how we must reevaluate and cope when we have little control over our new world.

The world we once knew is no longer available to us and that can be a scary thing.

We will never see the way we lived in 2019 again.

And you might be feeling overwhelmed and upset that we have to deal with all this when we are also grieving for that special person in our lives.

It’s just so unfair.

But we can no longer act like this is not happening.

People who hold the power in governments have created these scenarios, mostly for their own financial gain, power and benefit.

They weren’t interested in helping their citizens have a better life.

Instead they have an agenda they wish to see played out and it’s hurting all of us.

Unfortunately, we will see this get even worse in the months to come.

In Episode 169, I want to help you better understand what is upon us and consider ways to help you become stronger in mind, body, spirit and knowledge.

The Mary Mac Show | Our Uncertain Future I

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 168, we discuss the enormous changes in our world and how they affect us as we grieve our loved one’s death.

I wish we could just have the luxury to grieve the death of our loved one in peace.

But with all the changes in the world – inflation, unstable governments, the inability to know what is truth and what is a lie in the media, job layoffs and so much more – we find ourselves with more stress than we should have at this sad time in our lives.

It would be so much better if we didn’t have to deal with all this right now.

But we do, unfortunately, so it’s imperative that we take the time to review our financial, spiritual, emotional and physical health now.

Our family will be relying on us more than ever.

Listen in to Episode 168 as we look at the truth and ways to help ourselves.

Bless you, my Warrior!

The Mary Mac Show | Remembering Mrs. Riley

In Episode 167, we remember Mrs. Joan Riley, the mother of my best friend who always made me feel so welcomed in her home and who showed me such compassion and love.

Mrs. Riley was the mother every child should have had. She was compassionate, caring, always smiling and kind.

In this episode, I share my remembrances of first knowing her when I was attending seventh grade in a new school on Long Island, New York.

Her first child, her daughter, Debbie befriended me and later invited me to her home.

I only learned of Mrs. Riley’s death earlier in the week and when I realized her birthday was today, I wanted so much to honor her by creating an episode for her.

To learn more about this amazing lady and her wonderful family, go here to read her obituary.

Blessings to her entire family, especially her husband, Mr. Ronald Riley, who is a magnificent person as well.

And to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, David and I send our love to you always.

She will be missed and always remembered with love!

xoxo
