The Mary Mac Show | Intellectual Challenges

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 73, we discuss the various intellectual challenges we go through after the death of a loved one and ways to help ourselves cope through these challenges.

When we have a significant loss, we find ourselves in what one would consider a ‘fog’ or ‘bubble’ at the beginning of our grief.

It is during that time when we feel enveloped in a sort of safety net where we are protected.

We do many things on autopilot and at times are unsure how we did all we did.

Sometimes we are going through the motions, like driving our car to work and can’t remember how we got there. It all seems so unreal.

And when the bubble or fog is slowly lifting we might feel even worse because we can’t convince ourselves any longer that this was all a nightmare.

It is then we realize this is very real.

Listen in to Episode 73 to learn more.

The Mary Mac Show | Giving Back

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 70, we look at Easter and Passover and how helping others, even though we ourselves are grieving, will uplift us while bringing joy to others.

After we’ve experienced a loved one’s death, we can be in despair, lonely and isolated, grief stricken beyond what we ever thought.

There are days when we hardly function and it takes all our efforts to move forward.

I get that! I do.

But this week, I’d like you to consider doing something nice for someone else.

Now I know you’re probably thinking “Mary, there is no way I can do that!”

But I’m asking this of you because you need to get out of your head. Out of thinking only about your loss.

When we take a little time to concentrate on the pain and isolation of someone else, we take the focus off ourselves.

And as crazy as that may sound, it will help you.

So listen in to Episode 70 and take the suggestions I give.

And please take a moment to rate and review my podcast at our new site – www.TheMaryMacShow.com.

Have a joyous Easter and wonderful Passover!

xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | Dealing with Guilt after a Sudden Death

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 68, we discuss the guilt we may feel when someone we love has died suddenly and how we can help ourselves release this pain.

Sudden death leaves us in shock and despair.

We never thought they would die when we least expected it or in the manner they did.

It may have been an medical event, like a heart attack, stroke, aneurysm.

It may have been an accident, like a car accident, dying in a plane crash, falling from the roof, hit by a car or other such dramatic loss.

It may have been horrific as in the case of murder or suicide.

Or it may have been a military, law enforcement, firefighter, EMT or other first responder death.

However your loved one died, a sudden death leaves us overwhelmed and unable to believe when, where and how they died.

In this episode, we talk about the ways we can help ourselves after someone we love has died suddenly.

Bless you, my friend. My warrior!

The Mary Mac Show | Living While Grieving

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 67, we explore how we isolate ourselves for much longer than is healthy and look at ways to allow ourselves to flourish again after a loved one’s death.

When we are in the depth of despair, it is very easy to become stuck.

We don’t want to go anywhere, do anything.

Instead just staying home and turning down invitations, events and gatherings with family and friends becomes commonplace.

We can get to a place where we aren’t even invited any longer.

But living in this state is not healthy. We aren’t meant to be alone which only exacerbates our situation.

Listen in to this episode and learn how to lift yourself out of this sad place.

It doesn’t mean you don’t love them.

It doesn’t mean you won’t always be close to them.

It means that you might just be ready to start reliving your life, bit by bit.

And you are entitled to.

You can live while grieving.

You can laugh, feel joy, go out with family and friends.

Explore the world again.

Decide this will be the day to reinvigorate yourself and try something new.

Bless you, my friend, my warrior!

xoxo
