The Mary Mac Show | Giving Back

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 70, we look at Easter and Passover and how helping others, even though we ourselves are grieving, will uplift us while bringing joy to others.

After we’ve experienced a loved one’s death, we can be in despair, lonely and isolated, grief stricken beyond what we ever thought.

There are days when we hardly function and it takes all our efforts to move forward.

I get that! I do.

But this week, I’d like you to consider doing something nice for someone else.

Now I know you’re probably thinking “Mary, there is no way I can do that!”

But I’m asking this of you because you need to get out of your head. Out of thinking only about your loss.

When we take a little time to concentrate on the pain and isolation of someone else, we take the focus off ourselves.

And as crazy as that may sound, it will help you.

So listen in to Episode 70 and take the suggestions I give.

And please take a moment to rate and review my podcast at our new site – www.TheMaryMacShow.com.

Have a joyous Easter and wonderful Passover!

xoxo

The Mary Mac Show | How To Help a Grieving Friend or Relative | Emotional Support

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

Previously, in episodes 14 and 15, we learned what to SAY and NOT SAY to a grieving friend or relative.

In this episode, we discuss what to DO to lend support, emotional support, to those we love who are grieving the death of a loved one.

To help a newly bereaved person, you must be especially sensitive and kind. This isn’t about you and your problems. It has to be completely about them and their needs.

In the beginning, all hell is breaking loose around them and your job is to make sure they are shielded from as much additional trauma as possible.

Things that will help:

Visit Brad Yates’ youtube channel will teach you the Emotional Freedom Technique. His videos calm your spirit and help you release emotional and physical pain as you move forward.

Here are some meditation music to help you rest.

You can order your Bach’s Rescue Remedy by clicking on the link below and then tab at the top of their page for Rescue Remedy Products. Remember, these do have alcohol in them.

I use the Rescue Remedy 20ml drops but they have spray and other versions which might work better for you. And…they also have products to calm pets, too, which we used for beloved Joshua.

*To find a homeopathic doctor, visit here or here. Many offer phone consultations if you cannot find one in your area. They work with patients around the globe. You can also research in your area of the world.

Please share with anyone who may need to know this. Also rate and review this podcast on whichever podcast platform you listened in.

On the podcast, I promised to share the beautiful note she wrote and secretly left for all her neighbors at their doorstep.

The Mary Mac Show | Coronavirus | Speaking To The Young Ones

The Mary Mac Show PodcastSince there is so much going on in our world and inside our homes each day, it isn’t uncommon to sidestep what our young ones are feeling.

Just like adults, they deal with the grief associated with no seeing their friends and relatives on a regular basis.

They don’t know what all this means. They haven’t seen you in this state before. Trying to juggle all the household chores of cleaning, cooking, taking care of them, homeschooling or at least tutoring them through their now online classes and somehow doing all your work online yourself.

And if you are an essential worker, who is caring for them each day.

All the while, they are just as confused and left wondering what all this means.

They watch the television and since they aren’t really sure what is happening or when this will end, they just observe.

But they don’t like that the questions floating through their minds aren’t really answered.

And they don’t know what to ask you or other adults mostly because they see you don’t really have any answers anyway.

Episode 20 we explore language you can use to help explain to our young ones what we know at this time and how they can help the family move through this crisis.

Listen in here.
