The Mary Mac Show | Honoring Our Veterans

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 49, we commemorate the amazing valor of our veterans this week in the USA yet wherever you live around the world, we join with you on your special day in honoring these courageous men and women who keep us free.

Veterans are exceptional people. They go where others dare to go, do things that other dare to do, and live with the consequences.

They harbor all the pain of that experience – emotional, mental and physical.

They may come home changed to their families also emotionally, mentally and possibly physically.

They may have sustained loss of limbs, temporary or permanent injury, traumatic brain injury and post traumatic stress disorder or what was once called shell shock decades ago.

We bless our veterans and the sacrifices they and their families make for our benefit…for our freedom.

If you are having difficulty, please use the following assistance:

Visit my Crisis Connections page on my site www.MaryMac.info to find telephone helpline counselors to speak with all around the world. Don’t be shy; they are there to help when you are having a hard time.

You can also visit the Gary Sinise Foundation‘s suicide prevention telephone line. If you are a veteran in crisis or concerned about one, caring VA responders are standing by to help. Dial 1-800-273-8255 and press 1.

The Disabled American’s Veterans organization or DAV.org is ready to help, as well.

Search for homeopathic doctors with the designation CCH in your area of the world. Read their sites and speak with them to determine whom you would feel most comfortable working with.

With Much Love,

Mary Mac

The Mary Mac Show | Honoring Our Loved Ones on their Birthday and Anniversary of their Death

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In this week’s episode we look at how we can help ourselves as we approach their birthday and the anniversary of their death each year.

In the first several years, this can be a source of dread, panic and anxiety mostly because you aren’t sure how you will handle it, what you will do, what plans you should make, if any, and what the world, your family and even yourself expects on these days.

You might be surprised to learn the thoughts in our head leading up to that day may have trumped what will really happen for you.

We have these images in our head and often the day of their birthday or anniversary is not as horrific as you made it out to be.

The Mary Mac Show | Father’s Day | Sweet and Bittersweet

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 29, we remember our father and father figures who made an impact on our lives. We also discuss the pain of bereaved fathers, and father’s whose wives are struggling to bear children and fear they will never be called “Dad.”

The pain from a father’s death is often severe especially if we had a wonderful relationship with our Dads.

But, sometimes, our relationship wasn’t as we would expect and we struggle with the ‘what if’s’ and perhaps guilt that may bring.

Yet whatever the relationship, good or bad, that we had with him, we must forgive ourselves and even moreso him for what you needed that you didn’t get, for what you and he said to each other that stung, and all the unfinished business that might still linger that neither of you can do anything about anymore.

We also recognize all the father figures who raised you and cared for you if your Dad died younger than expected.

And we also talk about bereaved fathers who have buried their child, children or even all their children.

Lastly, we look at men who struggle to have children with their wives, those who experience a miscarriage or stillborn child, as well as those who deal with infertility and/or the knowledge that they may never have children of their own. We also remember men who are older now and wished they had children years ago when it was more practical, or those who never found the right women to raise a family.

This can be a very melancholy day for some. Let us acknowledge them all.

The Mary Mac Show | Mother’s Day Can Sting

The Mary Mac Show Podcast

In Episode 23, we remember our mothers and mother figures who made an impact on our lives. We also discuss the pain of bereaved mothers, ladies who struggle to bear the title and those who will never be called “Mom.”

The pain from a mother’s death is often severe especially if we had a wonderful relationship with our Moms.

But, sometimes, our relationship wasn’t as we would expect and we struggle with the ‘what if’s’ and perhaps guilt that may bring.

Yet whatever the relationship, good or bad, that we had with her, we must forgive ourselves and even moreso her for what you needed that you didn’t get, for what you and she said to each other that stung, and all the unfinished business that might still linger that neither of you can do anything about anymore.

We also recognize all the mother figures who raised you and cared for you if your Mom died younger than expected.

And we also talk about bereaved mothers who have buried their child, children or even all their children.

Lastly, we look at women who struggle to have children, those who miscarried or had a stillborn child, as well as those who deal with infertility and/or the knowledge that they may never have children of their own. We also remember women who are older now and wished they had children years ago when it was still possible, or those who never found the right husband to raise a family.

This can be a very melancholy day for some. Let us acknowledge them all.

The Mary Mac Show | New Year, New Decade, New Life

The Mary Mac Show PodcastIn Episode 4, we begin to look at each area of your life and consider what you want for yourself in this new year instead of what you don’t want.

So often when we feel so badly after a loved one’s death, we simply cannot fathom how we will find a way to build a new life for ourselves.

Sometimes we don’t feel we are entitled to develop something new for ourselves.

But if we don’t consider what our life might look like, especially as we begin a new year and new decade, we will simply slump or continue slumping into a despair which can overtake us.

And I’m sure you might feel you are entitled to that despair, but what if you thought a bit differently? What if you decided they would want you to still live a meaningful life?

So in this episode, I not only continue encouraging you to keep up with your gratitude journal, but now start to consider what you might like to change or do in the new year.

Go to The Mary Mac Show and download Episode 4. Subscribing is the easiest way to insure you’ll always get my podcast each Sunday morning.

I hope you will take the time to do the exercises I give you in this episode.

You have a choice – to live in despair or begin something new. I choose ‘new’ for you.
